Europacolon - Magyarország (Hungary - You Can Recover)

General Progress:
  • Magyarország (Hungary - You Can Recover) established on 6th of December 2006
  • As part of europacolon- Magyarország's strategic planning the organisation has undertaken the development of new Colorectal Cancer support clubs in many of the Oncology Centers in Hungary

Awareness Campaigns:

  • In March 2008 and as part of Hungary's ‘National Day Against Cancer' in one of Budapest's busiest shopping centers three weekly exhibitions were opened to the general public with a Colorectal Cancer exhibition being one
  • Preserved cancerous and healthy organs could be viewed along with educational films being shown - life sized models were used to shown organs and treatment options also displayed
  • Continuation of 'Club Days' programme at oncololgy clinics


Lobbying/Campaigning:

  • Extensive lobbying with government about the lack of treatment, prevention and the screening
  • As part of europacolon's outreach programme europacolon – Magyarország representatives met with Hungarian MEP's in Brussels in March 2008
  • Ongoing lobbying with health authorities for access to CRC screening


Media Activity:

  • László Dobolyi Chairman of europacolon – Magyarország featured on Hungarian RTL Klub television talking about living with Colorectal Cancer
  • László Dobolyi also interviewed along with a Senior lecturer in Oncologist and a Family Doctor featured on Hungarian Television 1
  • Promoting CRC with all the media to include TV, radio, newspapers etc. Received much coverage not only about CRC abut also the association.
  • Wide media exposure including interview with CNN
